spellr.us on track | obligatory first post

Today the development team, Dain (user interface, designer, and general right hand man to moi), and myself had a solid review of the existing and proposed feature set.

The Techcrunch story gave us some great exposure and a whole heap of additional people registering interest and giving us some great ideas.

We went through each idea to see how many of them we will be able to squeeze in version 1 of the beta over and above our initial ideas.

We have also finalised our hosting arrangements.

After much research we have decided to go with Rackspace and have commissioned our infrastructure with them.

Our criteria were

  • US based as it seems most of our customers will be from the US.
  • 24×7 genuine support: critical for us being in Australia and a different time zone.
  • Track record and corporate grade products and services.

I like their human style of doing business professional yet easy to communicate with. One of my passions is all aspects of business including customer relationship so I am very tuned in relationship management and customer service.

Youtube started out at Rackspace and 37 Signals have their apps there so I think spellr.us will be in good hands.

Melon Media has long been in the business of providing quality products and services and we know that you get what you pay for - especially with hosting.

We are also finalising the logistics of the beta tester program.

I am stopping short of committing to dates of the Beta Tester program but it will be happening sooner rather than later.

I also seem to have become addicted to running sites through spellr.us not the most damaging of addictions but who would have thought spell checking could become addictive?

I have to say VERY few sites are 100% spelling error free.

I try to run a couple of Melon Medias’ clients sites through spellr.us each day and give them some pointers to content problems.

They are always shocked to see how many typos have crept through.

All in all the office is a buzz with a great energy all of us enjoying the feeling that we are part of the evolution pioneering service.
